Hot deformation and softening response in boronmodified two?phase titanium aluminide Ti–48Al–2V–0.2B

Hot deformation and softening response for the titanium aluminide Ti–48Al–2V–0.2B has been investigated. The to mechanisms examined. Deformation experiments were carried out in strain rate range 0.01–10 s?1 keeping temperature constant at 1200 °C 1000–1200 1 s?1. With an increase rate, microstructural changes associated with mechanism include breaking of lamellae, spheroidization broken laths dynamic recrystallization. For s?1, (?2 +?) phase field leads fine recrystallized grains, remnant lamellae cavitation along grain boundaries (for temperatures 1000 1100 °C). (? recrystallization shear bands, within rotation ? during continuous strain.
